Furry Weekend Atlanta

Do you find yourself regularly getting mistaken for a real animal? Does the gentle stare of glass eyes make your heart melt? Would you like to meet other realism aficionados or try your hand photographing pretty creatures? If you have a realistic fursuit (partial or full!) to show off or just want to admire and learn about different styles, then come along. This is an informal session to give you a chance to mingle with like-minded animals, in or out of costume!

Mutant on Mutant is a durational artwork in collaboration with several other artists in the fandom. It consists of live vocal performance with audio processing and body contact improv. A fictional story co-authored by each performer unfolds within live reading while their bodies allude to this shared world they all emerge from. This piece is the second in an ongoing series of performances created specifically to be shown in furry spaces, related to Smoopa's work. It lies as a component in a larger body of research conducted by them that explores the interstitial space between the online and offline bodies. Pondering how we (the avatar/character) reflects back onto our own physical bodies and identities, and to attempt to normalize and destigmatize the act of maintaining an avatar, or player character. What does it mean to socialize often online, engage in cyber escort/sex work, build up personal lore within online platforms, prototype the self through the curation of an avatar, fall in love online, and contribute many years to fan culture that exists primarily on the internet.

Does your fursona have biceps bigger than their head? Or perhaps your fursona would love to be smothered by one that does? Come and meet other furs who are obsessed with big, boofy anthro animals and talk shop about lifting, bara art, and himbo life in the fandom.
